Alexis Ohanian, known as the co-founder of reddit, came to Cornell yesterday night on his book tour. I guess the two points I took from his talk were the following:
- If you think about it, the cat memes have more competition than any of us. There are hundreds of thousands of cute cats, and equal amounts of video-taking owners. For Grumpy Cat to remain at the top of the pile for… grumpy cat pictures is pretty amazing by itself.
Screw everything. The moral of this point was to just don’t worry about the competition, and focus on your work. If you put enough thought and care into it, everything will work out.

He’s a pretty interesting character all in all.
